VMWare Esxi upgrade no longer an option

Service Pack for ProLiant 2017.04.0 was installed on Proliant ML350p Gen 8.  Then tried to upgrade from Esxi 5.5 to VMware-ESXi-6.0.0-Update2-3620759-HPE-600.9.6.5.7-Dec2016 by booting from the ISO.  Once the inventory is complete it shows the option to install but not upgrade.  The server boots Esxi 5.5 just fine.

Prior to installing the service pack, I attempted to upgrade to Esxi 6.0 U3 but it failed with the error mentioned in this article https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-a00027220en_us.  I tried upgrading again from the Esxi 6.0 U3 ISO but the upgrade option was no longer there.

What are my options for upgrading at this point?  I know this is related to installing the service pack but not sure how to fix it.

Hello,

Though you have not mentioned any error except that no upgrade option available, check the below link VMware KB article, this might help in resolving the issue or use ESXI Customizer to create custom profile and try it out

indus -  you just linked to a random vmware kb article.  How is that helpful?

BTLVADM - Maybe try upgrading from 5.5 to 6.0 first instead of trying to jump directly to 6.0 Update 2?
