Virtual connect design with single 7000 enclosure (Vsphere and Non Virtual environment)
That is the situation:
I have HP 1x c7000 Blade Enclosure
5 bl460c G6
2 455880-B21HP BLc VC Flex-10 Enet Module Opt
2AG642A Cisco MDS 9124e 24-port fabric Switch
1 Core Switch Cisco 4507R
I have to install vSphere 4.1 on all 3 Blades and rest two blades for master/media backup server and other for application
.
Each 10 gig card can have 4 NICS
ï Blade 1 LOM1a LOM1b LOM1c LOM1d and LOM2a LOM2b LOM2c LOM2d
ï Blade 2 LOM1a LOM1b LOM1c LOM1d and LOM2a LOM2b LOM2c LOM2d
ï Blade 3 LOM1a LOM1b LOM1c LOM1d and LOM2a LOM2b LOM2c LOM2d
ï Blade 4 LOM1a LOM1b LOM1c LOM1d and LOM2a LOM2b LOM2c LOM2d
ï Blade 5 LOM1a LOM1b LOM1c LOM1d and LOM2a LOM2b LOM2c LOM2d
How would I need to configure Virtual connect keeping in mind future addition of blades in VMWARE farm and physical blades for non virtual environment within the same enclosure and going forward with second enclosure for enclosure level redundency
Initially there are total of 10 VMs including Vcenter and HP CMS and Virtual machine.
I want to consider vlan for esx servers.
ï Service console VLAN,
ï production VLAN,
ï vmotion VLAN and
ï backup VLAN
Deployment VLAN
Fault Tolerence VLAN new feature in 4.1
draft design doc enclosed

Re: Virtual connect design with single 7000 enclosure (Vsphere and Non Virtual environment)
I doubt whether you will get anyone to validate your design for free. People with knowledge of all the components you are talking about usually get paid for their advice. You need to engage HP or VMware or a VAR. Or are you a VAR being a bit sneaky?
