Vmotion from HP server with X5570 QC Processors to HP server with Intel Xeon E5-26xx processors

Hi,

Please can you advise if it is possible to Vmotion from an HP server with X5570 QC Processors to HP server with Intel Xeon E5-26xx processors? THe VMware Vmotion compatibility guide does not cover the E5-26xx range of processors.

Hi Andrew,

Configuring the EVC Cluster Baseline to Intel "Nehalem" Generation Mode, you should be able to do vmotion between these servers having Xeon 26XX and Xeon 55XX processors. Below link gives the compatibility details on Xeon 2600 Series.

E5-2600 (along with E5-2400 and E5-4600) are collectively known as Sandy Bridge, and they have been in the EVC KB for a while now.

Indus' link 1003212 is the EVC article I am referring to.
