vSphere HP Management Agent 8.25 install

We've just upgraded to vSphere 4.0 (175625).

No problems with the agent installation but a couple of questions on some chnages.

(1) What is the equivilant of a "service hpasm restart"? it is no longer a valid service in this new version.

(2) We don't use ILO and it would alert on our HPSIM console so we've always followed this to eliminate the alert

rpm -q hprsm
rpm -e "full RPM name"

It seems this isn't valid anymore. I ended up doing the same thing with the hpilo RPM. Is this the equivilant. I want to make sure I don't need the hpilo package.

rpm -q hpilo
rpm -e "full RPM name"

Regards,

Re: vSphere HP Management Agent 8.25 install

1) I believe in ESX4 that would be: "service hp-snmp-agents restart" but I'm not sure.

2) That's correct :)

Agents can also be disabled by editing the /opt/compaq/cma.conf file to exclude agents from starting.
We're going ESXi with vSphere so a lot of this goes away here, so not checked to see if the same is valid.

Re: vSphere HP Management Agent 8.25 install

There are two that can be found

/esx3-installation/opt/compaq/cma.conf
/opt/hp/hp-snmp-agents/cma.conf
