DVD/CDRW Problems on Presario 5900z

DVD/CDRW Problems on Presario 5900z

Both my DVD and CDRW stopped responding after 2 yrs of service. I get "E:/ is not accessible. The device is not ready" when try to access CD via Windows Explorer. The CDs with autoexec won't start. I tried to troubleshoot using Device Manager "remove" and restart to reload the drivers, but to no avail. Short of using Quick Restore, is there any other remedy ?
