HP C1107M & IBM 3995-C48

Hi,

Do any of you guru's know whether a HP C1107M optical jukebox could be used in place of an IBM 3995-C48 optical jukebox to read from / write to MO disks attached to an RS/6000. Assuming same capacity drives etc.

Regards,

Aidan

Re: HP C1107M & IBM 3995-C48

hi,
I cannot confirm you 100% but as both drives have the Optical drives, I suppose also IBM is using the Sony one, and anyway following the standard, it should work

------------
ibm 3995-C48
Connectivity to a wide range of server platforms -- open systems, AS/400, RS/6000, S/390 and local area networks (LANs) -- supporting growth and application flexibility

Up to five library capacities from 104GB and extending to 1.34TB (up to 2.68TB in the S/390 environment) of storage, can be configured, allowing for configuration and growth requirements.

OS/400 support allows easy integration into your AS/400 SCSI direct attach environment and is also available in LAN configurations

Support four generations (1x - 650MB, 2x - 1.3GB, 4x - 2.6GB, 8x - 5.2GB) of 5.25-inch optical media providing continued access to previously written data

Re: HP C1107M & IBM 3995-C48

Hi...

Does anyone know what HP's non-discounted maintenance price is for the HPC1107M optical jukebox. This would be 9 hour by 5 day coverage with a 4 hour response time.

Is there an HP site where you can get HP's standard non discounted maintenance prices?

Thanks

IBM no longer support the 3995 / 3996 jukeboxes (since Plasmons bankruptcy / demise...they're still trying to find their footing). As for the HP jukeboxes I wouldn't know as we have not been able to find any support for those either. MO disks have been EOL'd for years (End of Life'd).
My best recommendation is to replace the 3995 / 3996 as it's really a Plasmon G Series Machine. Phantom Data Systems currently has the certified migration path for the old IBM jukeboxes and I will be more than glad to discuss this with you.
