HP SureStore 320ex Optical Jukebox + Windows 2000 Pro

Hi, I have a problem with a 320ex Optical Jukebox. Actually is attached via single-ended cable to an PC IBM Netvista model 6579-LES running Windows 2000 Pro with Service Pack 4. This PC has a TEKRAM SCSI PCI card model 395 U/UW. My jukebox has the latest firmwares and the software I use is HP Library Tape & Tools (latest version).
My problem starts when I try to move a 5.2 GB WORM MO disk from any slot to any of the four disk units. I do this operation via HP Library Tape & Tools. Everything works fine, the MO disk moves succesfully, but when I re-scan the devices with Library Tape & Tools the PC suddendly stops. I can├В┬┤t reboot it via CTRL+ALT+DEL. When I turn the PC off and on again to boot it, Windows 2000 hangs on start up. The only way I can boot up the machine is ejecting the 5.2 GB WORM MO disk from the disk unit. Once I do this operation, I can boot and work with the machine.
What can be happening?
Thanks in advance

If you load the worm media into the drive and then use windows device manager to rescan, do you get a similar system hang?

Are you running the latest (3.05) drivers for the 395UW?

Do you have access to an Adaptec HBA you could try (e.g. 2940UW, 29160)?

In answer to David Ruska :

1.- Yes, running Windows Device Manager hangs the system completely.
2.- I am running version 3.02 of driver of my Tekram SCSI PCI card.
3.- I do not have an Adaptec card. But I have

I will try to update my driver to version 3.05 and make a test.

tahnks again,

Re: HP SureStore 320ex Optical Jukebox + Windows 2000 Pro

Hello,
It sounds as if you do not have an ISV application installed on your Windows 2000 system?

Windows NTFS has no idea what to do with WORM media and if you're using the native drivers it will do such things when trying to read WORM media, particularly the boot problem.

In order to use WORM media on a Windows system you must have a third party file system installed.

Thanks,
John

In answer to John Griffith :

You are right, I haven├В┬┤t installed a third party software.
Can you suggest me where can I find a program ? (if a demo exists, better yet)

Re: HP SureStore 320ex Optical Jukebox + Windows 2000 Pro

There is an optical solutions finder here:
http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/products/archivalprod/sol_finder/index.html

Unfortunately the link is down at the moment (hope to be up later this week).

John can recommend some apps with worm support in the mean time.

I've been told the solutions finder will be back up by the end of the day...
