Surestore 2600fx

Can't seem to get this guy configured on any HPUX server.

Tried to install on an E25, and on an H70, with no success. The system(s) see the drive, build the device files for it, but I can't access it at all, either by mediainit, or newfs and trying to access it through SAM. Sam says he does not know what type of device it is, although driver (disc3) is in the kernel.

Any suggestions?

Mike

Re: Surestore 2600fx

Mike,
post 'ioscan -fn' here as attachment (do not cut it, post whole one)
You may install HPUX version of HP Library and Tape Tools from http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/support_doc/lpg50128.html , analyze juke and generate support ticket and post it here too

Re: Surestore 2600fx

Eugeny-

HP LTT is already installed, but does not even detect the drive. I'll retry the generation of the support ticket.

The ioscan is attached.

Re: Surestore 2600fx

Sorry. Of course you're right this is standalone drive. I do not see device file for the drive. What whould I like to have is drive's firmware revision. Could you please try diskinfo on it?
BTW, what's UX version and server?

Re: Surestore 2600fx

Mike,
you need to patch the system. I see the patch PHKL_18543, but maybe you will find more recent one. Is it possible to load latest (or previous) patch bundle?

Re: Surestore 2600fx

Mike,
one more idea... My colleague told me that it is not good to have General release and HW enablement patches from different release times. So we propose the following:
- do FULL backup;
- patch system with GR dated 2000 yr;
- patch system with GR dated 2001 yr;
- patch system with GR dated 2002 yr;
- patch system with HW enablement from the same disk dated 2002 yr.
It is not good practice to upgrade patches in 'fast manner' so make it slowly pathing by year releases.
After you'll have 2002 pathes (both, same release) we'll look at your issue with MO again
