100% Uptime for Infrastructure Platform

How do we factor & provision for 100% uptime for infrastructure/underlying hardware.

Is there any thumb rule for provisioining the same beyond standard way of considering redundancy for critical components.

Hello There,

This could be anything e.g. a server, storage, network as a part of the entire solution. Is there is a thumb-rule or best practise to arrive at the uptime.

In the solution, all the building blocks have been kept redundant, can I say this solution will have an uptime of lets say 95% or so.
