Booting from SAN

Does anyone know where I can find the pro/con of booting from SAN. FYI, we don't even have a 'HP' SAN, which I know is the first con.

Re: Booting from SAN

Dan,

A google search brought up myriad of documents related to this subject. Most relevant of which I found is this one:

http://docs.hp.com/en/5873/HPUXSANBootWP.pdf

feel free to browse the google search results for deeper insight here:

Re: Booting from SAN

Hi Dan,

most of the current servers have enough internal harddisks to install the OS in a mirrored way. This is safe and fast enough.

The only reason I see to boot from SAN is a multiple nPar/vPar configuration, because you'll need a lot of "independent" disk devices.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Hi Dan,

the title of your thread took my attention since I too launched the same thread one year ago:

Check the good replies that people gave me (at that time I signed yet like Ettore, my second name) :-)
