Electric power question

I don't know it this is a question for the forum but here is it.
On out hp "K" Cabinet is these power strips pluggen in to the UPS.
The outlets use the male pluge with the sheild around then like the ole PC used to plug the Monitor in the PC.
the outlet looks something like this.

I I

I have 3 servers like this and the power coming out of these out lets is different on all three.
On out newest (pr7700)
230 between the lower ones and 120 from the center to either side one. and 120 to the lowers and ground.

The other 2 have now 120 and 230 between the lower two. And one hse 230 between one lag and the center and the other one it is the other lag to the center one. and nothing to ground.

We have been using all 3 of these for a long time. One of these must be right.

Can you give me a link where I can see how these shing should be so I know which wones I need to get fixed.
It power strips I think are wrong. Mabe the UPS is the older ones that is P/N C2786080521

So can you help?

Re: Electric power question

Those power strips are probably 220 Volts. I'm pretty sure if you actually plug a standard pc into one of those you'll fry the power supply.

If the power supply has a switch for going from 120 Volt to 220 Volt, it should work all right on that power strip.

Re: Electric power question

Thanks Steve that what I guessed.
I'll have to get the UPS checked out.

Re: Electric power question

Hi Marty,

This is link from hp docs site which has all the hp server categories listed over there.

http://docs.hp.com/hpux/hw/index.html

Check out the site preparation guide for the specific category of server you are interested in.

Hope this helps.

Re: Electric power question

It looks like they wired to wall outlet wrong. After we get the hardware off this power source we are going to have the wiring checked out.

Thanks for all the information. It was a big help.
