Re: HP-UX installation

Hi Chandhan,

You can't install HP-UX on AMD PC or Intel Hardware. You should have HP Supplied PA or Itanium servers to install it.

In case you would like to the supported hardware for HP-UX 11.23,

Re: HP-UX installation

HP-UX only runs on HP servers and workstations. There is no X86/Pentium/AMD version. Your best bet is to look on the used-equipment market.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: HP-UX installation

Hi,

Can you give me idea how to start HP-UX practice. So I can get knowledge about UX. Where can I practice? Any HP-UX simulation?

I can not effort to buy HP servers. It must be costly.

Re: HP-UX installation

Hi Chandhan,

Testdrive FAQ will give all the information you require, http://www.testdrive.hp.com/faq/

# What is the Test Drive Program?

The Test Drive Program is a free service of HP. Its main purpose is to provide developers with access to new HP hardware running various HP and third party operating systems and applications. When you register, you get a free shell account you can use to log into the wide variety of systems on our Test Drive network and try out the software and operating systems running on them.

# What can Test Drive do for me?

Test Drive gives you the opportunity to try out combinations of hardware, operating systems, and software before you buy them. For developers, it also gives you the opportunity to ensure your software runs on hardware, software, and operating system combinations which you may not have available to you locally.

You can register at, http://www.testdrive.hp.com/accounts/register.shtml

Re: HP-UX installation

Hi Arun,

I have created a user account and connected to td192.testdrive.hp.com using telnet.

It's really good. When I login I am able to execute commands, create file....

However, once I logout and login I don't find created file.

Is it possible to see created file once you logout?

Help!!

Re: HP-UX installation

Hi Chandan,

Where you have created your files ? in /tmp dir or your home dir ? I am not sure why this is happening. Somebody from HP should clarify this. May be some policies enabled ? ?
