Legato Networker

Hi
I am looking at ways of improving the companies backup and because I am
only aware of Legato Networker on Unix I would like to know is it possible to
setup to backup Unix and Windows and control from Unix.

Re: Legato Networker

Legato has a Windows client and we have been using an HP-UX Legato server to backup all the different versions of Unix and Windows we are running in our environment to a tape library for several years now. It does depend upon what version of Networker you are running.
Here's the link for the downloads to upgrade to the latest Legato:

Re: Legato Networker

Simon,

Sure this can be done and will work perfectly.
Networker is a primary UNIX product which was ported to the Windows world.
Setting up a Networker Unix Server and having clients for all other operating systems or application (databases, Mail systems etc.) is a fine solutions for backup and recovery

Re: Legato Networker

Hi Simon,

if you have a Networker server this license is the limit to how many Clients you may backup. Regardles what OS your backupclient is running on.

But for each OS different to that of the networker server you need a ClientPack. In your case a ClientPack for Windows.

Ask your dealer for this ClientPack. Everything else should work like you would expect it. Just configure these new client(s) as you configuered your HP-UX clients.

Hope this helps
