MTBF standards

Are there any documents around with MTBF and MTTF rates for various different servers, etc.?

Re: MTBF standards

Hi,

I don't think there is one document that will cover your question. I've not any document on servers as such but only on components like tape and disk drives. Below is one discussion that may assist.

Re: MTBF standards

I don't pay much attention to MTBF, etc. numbers. IMHO, they are a set of engineering statistical "fictions" that apply to the whole population of devices being rated but tell you nothing about YOUR specific unit(s). Those numbers are not really a good basis for product comparisons or purchasing decisions.

Re: MTBF standards

The reason for trying to get hold of these is to give us a basis on which to work out total availability rates to our customers for our applications. We need MTBF figures for the hardware to contribute to these figures.
