No fresh installation on clean drives?

No fresh installation on clean drives?

Hello there,

maybe I didn't get the term "Cold installation" right, but: can't we do a completly fresh installation on brand-new drives?
Reason for asking is: the hd used in our test system (a180c) sounds realy terrible, and it stucks from time to time. So we bought a complete media set of HP-UX 11, and would like to use another hd (its recognized by the system).
To run in absolutly no trouble we just put the install cd in the cd-rom, and started the machine .... but no installation seems to be possible - we can't even access the console.

All docs are refering to upgrading HP-UX or doing an cold installation .... but no fresh one.

Thanks in advance!!!

Re: No fresh installation on clean drives?

Hi,
Normally it should not be any problem installing on a new drive. Is there perhaps any interface mismatches ( e.g. LVD drive and HVD bus)

Re: No fresh installation on clean drives?

Ok,

its attached to the internal cable (the same one the HP drive is attached to), and is recognized when booting from the old drive.
So I guess its not an interface problem system <-> harddisk .... or am I wrong?
