Optimal Operating conditions

Hi

I am exploring on the different general recommendations on optimal operating conditions for HP servers. The details such as recommended/allowed temperature variations, humidity, voltage levels, positioning of server (how far from other power source equipments like UPS,Air Conditioner) and similar factors. If anyone has this info, please forward.

Also, another generic question is that whether falling of sunlight directly on the server has any known impact on the server.

Please advice.

Thanks
Bind

Re: Optimal Operating conditions

sunlight problems and all that cosmic radiation stuff will have a bigger impact on the sun stuff (seems to inject parity errors here and there)

You should find all the environmental information you require for each server on the information library/tech specs pages at:

http://www.hp.com/products1/unixservers/

for example:
http://www.hp.com/products1/servers/rackoptimized/servers/rx4610/infolibrary/datasheet.pdf

Hello,

This link will help you lots:

http://docs.hp.com/hpux/pdf/5959-7809.pdf

Also, check out this site:

http://docs.hp.com/hpux/hw/index.html

and search for "Server site preparation". Here is an example for the N-Class:

Re: Optimal Operating conditions

Bind,

Site preparation for each server defers, as the technical specification does.

Search www.docs.hp.com for information on different servers.

Re: Optimal Operating conditions

Bind,

As a general rule, if it is comfortable office, then an HP computer will be happy. They are very tolerant beats.

HP power supplies tolerate a lot of variance in power quality.

If you are comfortable, then the air conditioning is sufficient.

Sunlight is okay as long as you have a shade on the window (heat).
