SQL Server Hardware Recommendation

I am needing to purchase a new server to run MS SQL 2005. What server model should I be looking at and how should the hardware be configured (i.e. drives/raid/# of controllers). Ultilization of the server will be pretty heavy.

Re: SQL Server Hardware Recommendation

You need to define more specifically server load - what type of SQL applications,
size of databases, etc.

You can try to use
"HP ProLiant Data Mart Sizer for Microsoft SQL Server 2000"
http://h71019.www7.hp.com/activeanswers/Secure/70696-0-0-0-121.html
(HP passoprt required)
It is similar for SQL 2005

You can see "Migrating to HP Integrity servers and Microsoft SQL Server 2005"
http://h71019.www7.hp.com/ActiveAnswers/cache/280328-0-0-0-121.html
if your applications is really heavy
