Upgrade to 11.i or 11.11?

We're currently at 11.00 and I am looking into
up grading to either 11.i or 11.11.

Can anyone explain the differences and help
me to understand which is the better upgrade?

We don't want to be bleeding edge, but I want
the upgrade package with the best bells and
whistles.

We are currently on 11.00 with trusted unix
servers.

Thank you in advance for your time,
Laurie

Re: Upgrade to 11.i or 11.11?

Laurie:

HP-UX 11.11 is also known as "11i" - the 'i' standing for Internet [ isn't everything either 'e' or 'i'? ;-) ].

The choice of 11.0 or 11.11 is an interesting one. See the comments and the link that Sam Nicholls (of HP...) provides here:

In the same thread, I have the reference to the HP url that notes that there isn't yet a scheduled time for the "demise" of 11.0.

There is no difference between 11i and 11.11. They are the same thing. When you do a uname on an upgraded system you will see 11.11 returned, but on all media you will see 11i.

What you will want to determine is which 11i you need. There are 3 or 4 different versions of 11i.
