upgrade path for HPUX 1100

Hi everyone

We are currently running HPUX 11.00 (32 bit) on HP 9000 D and K servers.
Because of end of life support, we are planning to change the servers to rp3410s.

Can anyone give me some advice on OS versions.
What is the difference between 11 and 11i?
Can I stay using 32bit?

I know Im currently at version 11.00 but what are 11.11 and 11.23?

We use c/ansi and informix. We would also like to use ServiceGuard.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: upgrade path for HPUX 1100

Thanks

I found the following page which explained the end of life:

If I go to 11i V1 can I stay with 32 bit seeing as this is what we are currently?

Hi,
yes, you can stay at 32 bit.

Re: upgrade path for HPUX 1100

Hi:

Given the new hardware, I would choose 11.23 (which runs only 64-bit). Continuing to run 32-bit systems simply constrains and wastes the large memory environments that you can configure.

Release 11.23 is more feature rich than 11.11 although the end-of-life is the same for both (12/31/2013).

You can see the features in either release by examining the release notes. For 11.23:

Re: upgrade path for HPUX 1100

Just to clarify: the rp3410 only runs the 64bit version of the OS. Your 32bit applications will continue to run unless they ustilize unportable programming techniques. So you can keep your 32bit programs -- they run on top of the 64bit OS.
