3.6.2 and SQL 2008 R2

I know that SQL 2008 is supported on PolyServe. Has anyone tried installing SQL 2008 R2 on it? If so, did it work?

Re: 3.6.2 and SQL 2008 R2

The product documenation does not include information about SQL 2008 R2, only it is not included. From HP PolyServe Software for Microsoft SQL Server 4.1 administration guide, HP PolyServe Software can be used with SQL Server 2005/2008 Standard and Enterprise Editions (32-bit and 64-bit).

See the release notes for Polyserve Matrix Server 4.1.0 at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02557743/c02557743.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

States 4.1 supports R2.

Re: 3.6.2 and SQL 2008 R2

So SQL 2008 R2 is not officially supported on PolyServe. I get it. My question is has any tried or tested it? I want to know if this is a just certification issue or if it truely does not work because specific modifications to PolyServe are required.

Re: 3.6.2 and SQL 2008 R2

Another forum post about lack of support or even information on future support of the latest version of SQL Server. Strange for what is now effectively a SQL Server consolidation application.

Sorry Don I don't currently have the recourse to test but it is my intention to see if I can get it working at some point.

Re: 3.6.2 and SQL 2008 R2

I have heard informally from other engineers that worked with customers that have attempted it that SQL 2008R2 installation fails. Will probably have to wait till next version. Sorry.

This is not a official support position.

Re: 3.6.2 and SQL 2008 R2

Thanks for the responses. I started the thread to find out if there was any merit to me testing a SQL 2008 R2 install myself. Since I have heard no feedback of a successful install, I think I can conclude that it would be a pointless waste of time.

Is a version of the MXDB utility that supports SQL 2008 R2 in the works?

Emil - That is not a particularly useful post as no HP representatives are actually giving any information. Its why the number of forum posts about this issue are increasing.
