Recently bought a load of 2920-24G switches.
Putting them into a Stack of 4 with Ring Topology on each stack
Setup as per the cable guide using the stacking modules.
However the webconsole logic does not match the physical
For example, the webpage on the stack will Show Switch 1,2,3,4
So logicall I will plug a network device into Physical Switch one (any port) you would expect it to match, but no it does not
The physical order translates to the webpage order of 2,3,4,1
I have cabled all the stacks the same giving the same illogical results.
Driving me nutts

SolutionResolved
HP can't write a manual correctly.
Confirmed with HP that they have issue a manual thats blatently wrong
The diagram for cabling should not be followed for a stack of 4 switches (2920's)

Re: 2920 Stack issue, web page shows different logic to physical stack order
For those of you who need to know, the correct stacking cabling between 4 x 2920 switches to show a physical stack that looks the same in the web interface do the following:
Switch 1 Port 1 --> Switch 4 Port 1
Switch 1 Port 2 --> Switch 2 Port 2
Switch 2 Port 1 --> Switch 3 Port 1
Switch 3 Port 2 --> Switch 4 Port 2
The layout in the manual shows the switches in the wrong order when viewing the web interface.

Re: 2920 Stack issue, web page shows different logic to physical stack order
Update:
This worked fine until we rebooted the switches.
Now they are in a random order again on the web page.
HP advised me to reboot them one at a time. This means if ever you have a power failure you will need to check they are still in the right order on the page. This is crazy. They should ALWAYS appear in the same order as the physical setup.
I have reported the issue to HP and will update if they have a better solution than turn it off and on again.

Re: 2920 Stack issue, web page shows different logic to physical stack order
That seems to be the issue even with latest firmware in Apr 2015.
is there some "hardcoded" stack members number info that displays in web interface, as opposed to how they are connected?
