2930M switch with optional JL083A module
Received a new 2930M switch along with a JL083AR module (Reman Aruba 3810M 4SFP+ Module) for testing purposes. This module does not appear to work with the switch. Noticed the latest pricelist has a different description for JL083A (Aruba 3810M/2930M 4SFP+ MACsec Module). I'm assuming this is a newer version of this module/hardware and is what i would need for the new 2930M switch?

Re: 2930M switch with optional JL083A module
The R letter on that JL083AR probably means Remanufactured: maybe that's the issue.
The JL083A "Aruba 3810M/2930M 4-port 100M/1G/10G SFP+ MACsec Module" looks supported by Aruba 2930M, at least looking at latest Aruba 2930M QuickSpecs.
Edit: Wait...Are you already using the WC.16.04.0004 Software Version on your Aruba 2930M? that version (actually the latest) is mandatory on the Aruba 2930M in order to support the JL083A.

Re: 2930M switch with optional JL083A module
Recognized it as a reman module which told me it was an older version of the JL083A hardware. Wasn't sure if it was common to keep the same part number, as in this case, when it appears older versions of that hardware are not compatable with same platforms newer versions of the hardware are. Again, i'm making an assumption that is the case here but did not see it documented anywhere (just going off description in the pricelist). Was hoping to get a confirmation on this. Thanks

Re: 2930M switch with optional JL083A module
The existence of Hardware manufactoring revisions doesn't necessarily mean that different Product SKUs need to be created (theoretical example: JL083A and JL083B).

Re: 2930M switch with optional JL083A module
That's the software version the 2930M is running. The module is not recognized by the switch. It does however work in a 3810M. I'll request a new version of the JL083A module (Aruba 3810M/2930M 4SFP+ MACsec Module). Thanks

Interesting, please report back here your findings.

Re: 2930M switch with optional JL083A module
Had moved the JL083AR module to the 3810M switch running 16.03.0004 (from the 2930M switch running 16.04.0004) to verify the module would work. Over the weekend i moved the module back to the 2930M switch (in an attempt to gather additional data for a ticket) and it began working there as well?? Perhaps a module firmware upgrade occurred when placed in the 3810M switch??
