HP J9312A 2-Port SFP+/ 2-Port CX4 10GbE yl Module - Expansion module
Hello ,
we have 1 commander switch (3 members ) in one server room and 4 members in other server room . we are planning to run Fiber optic 10gb connections between 2 stack . we are midsized company of 200 people . we are limited on our budget . Each of this (HP J9312A 2-Port SFP+/ 2-Port CX4 10GbE yl Module - Expansion module) is costing us 1200$ Each .Is there any alternate solution to get the same connectivity. We are currently using hp procurve 48g ports 3500yl series switches .

Re: HP J9312A 2-Port SFP+/ 2-Port CX4 10GbE yl Module - Expansion module
If you want a 10Gb link between your switches, you will need the 10Gb module in the back of it.
When the distance is very short (5 metres) you can use DACs instead of 10Gb SFPs, but 10Gb SFPs are about $100 each, so that's not really going to save you much.

Thanks for the reply ,
I am very much concern what commands I need to give on each of the switches to that switches will understand that 10g MODULE is connected on back plane. Sorry new to SFP world , just asking . take for example
We are planing to use J9312A 10g sfp module .

No command, just plug it in.
If the switch previously had a different module in the slot, it might need a reboot to recognise the change of hardware.
