Help on port negotiation between hp and cisco.

Hello. I have a problem with port negotiation between an HP c7000 and a switch. Both are connected using a 1g port but it is only detected as 100 Mbps. Whenever we set the port speed to 1000 on the hp both of them gets disconnected. The cisco switch supports 1 gb. Thanks in advance.

Hi Mate,

I am guessing you set it both ends. So Cisco speed 1000 duplex full and hp end speed-duplex 1000-full.

What do you get when you do a show int brief.

The cisco switch has full duplex auto set in it. We connected a notebook directly to its port and there may be a problem with it since the connection is intermittent and it is only detected as 100 mb.

I trust you have tried a new cable? I've never see Gigabit Ethernet autonegotiation fail if there's good physical connectivity.
