IRF/STP

HI all,

I have 2 x HP 5500 HI switches, connected together using IRF.  All is working as it should.  I now have some edge switches, that have fiber and CAT5 links back to the core IRF.  Currently, they are just connected via the fiber but I'd like to add the CAT5 copper link too, for resiliency, or perhaps link aggregation.  My question is, can I simply add connect the CAT5 link back to the core, as well as the fiber and leave the IRF stack to prevent a loop, or do I need to configure anything?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Re: IRF/STP

If you use the LACP not there is a need to work with STP. If you make a "direct" link, it is necessary to enable STP on both switches.

Re: IRF/STP

You should reduce the IRF core STP priority to something less than the default value, and enable STP on all your switches.
