No Response From HP 2530 switch to arping -f -D -I eth0 -w 5 192.168.1.2

I get no reponse when sending an ARP Probe using the Linux iputils arping program in DAD mode (-D flag) to and HP ProCurve 2530 switch.  I have arp-protect disabled.  It appears as though the switch doesn't like 0.0.0.0 in the "Sender IP address" field of the ARP request message.  The "Target MAC address" is set to ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff by the arping utility as well.  Why doesn't the switch respond with an ARP reply indicating that it owns the 192.168.1.2 address?

Update:  I modified the arping program to use 00:00:00:00:00:00 for the "Target MAC address" in the ARP request and the HP 2530 switch still doesn't respond.  It appears as though it doesn't like an ARP Probe, which is required by specifications RFC 5227 and RFC 2131 to have 0.0.0.0 for the "Sender IP address".
