PoE Calculation Question for the 2620-24 PoE+

Hello! Not sure if this is in the correct subject area, but I could not find one specifically for PoE questions. I am curious as to how the 2620-24 PoE+ calculates the status information it is displaying. For example, I am looking at a port that is showing:

Voltage=54.3 V

Current = 179 mA

Power = 19 W

To me, those numbers do not make sense, so I would like to know how the power was calculated. I was taught that P=E*I, so I thought that the power should be 9.7 W (54.3 V * .179 A).

Can someone please clear this up for me? Thanks - John

I don't think the "power" is calculated - this is the maximum power level that has been reserved for that switchport.

Well, I would believe that, except that the Max is set to 20. Looking at the port table under PoE, each port is set to 20 for the max and 19 for the current watts.

Pick up a handset, initiate a call, and then check the PoE switchport stats again.

Um...no. Access point, not a phone
