Re: Ports go Up and Down

What kind of devices do you have on those ports?

What does  "show interface" show, as far as errors go?

What does "show power" give you?

Re: Ports go Up and Down

this is an edge switch. this switch is connected to distribution ...
only user are connected with their PC .. and sometime they connect wireless router ...
I have configured the DHCP Snooping policy so they don't disturbe the internet service on other users ..

** show interfaces look normal

and this is not a power switch

now the show logging show that one of the port is blocked by STP .. I disable that port... it show other two ports also blocked by STP .. strange I checked the port from user side and there is no loop it is connected straight to PC

Re: Ports go Up and Down

The "blocked by STP" is normal operation: when a port comes up, spanning-tree goes through its normal states before it transitions to forwarding.

If you want to get rid of the spanning-tree messages, have those edge ports transition immediately to "forwarding" by applying,

"spanning-tree (interface number) admin-edge-port".

Re: Ports go Up and Down

It could be  that a faulty driver at the PC end is driving the link up and down; I would definitely check out a PC or two, get the latest vendor drivers, see if it fixes the problem.
