ProCurve 2910 Blocking PC by STP
ProCurve 2910 Blocking PC by STP
Hey All,
I've got an odd one, I have a couple HP ProCurve 2910s that are blocking ports by STP. The odd thing is that PCs are connected directly to these ports. So, I can't for the life of me figure out why the switch is blocking the ports.
I've verified the cabling and that, in this example, port 26 is connected directly to a PC.
Here's a snippet from the log:
I 05/11/16 13:41:30 00077 ports: port 26 is now off-line
I 05/11/16 13:41:32 00435 ports: port 26 is Blocked by STP
I 05/11/16 13:41:33 00077 ports: port 26 is now off-line
I 05/11/16 13:41:48 00435 ports: port 26 is Blocked by STP
I 05/11/16 13:41:59 00077 ports: port 26 is now off-line
I 05/11/16 13:42:07 00435 ports: port 26 is Blocked by STP
I 05/11/16 13:42:41 00076 ports: port 26 is now on-line
I 05/11/16 13:44:54 00077 ports: port 26 is now off-line
I 05/11/16 13:48:06 00435 ports: port 26 is Blocked by STP
I 05/11/16 13:48:40 00076 ports: port 26 is now on-line
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

That's how STP works.
Blocking
Listening
Learning
Forwarding
Your logs indicate the connection is flapping for some reason. I'd configure the switchport to 100Mb manually to see if it makes a difference - if it does, then you probably have a cabling issue you need to fix.
