QOS on HP3500 switches
We are trying to configure QOS on HP 3500 switches but are experiencing "jitter" and "delay" when trying to make phone calls.
The network configuration is as follows;
HP 3500 (edge switch) connecting to a HP 5400 (core switch)
The voip traffic and data traffic is segmented via vlans
The qos configuration applied to the HP3500 and HP5400 switches / voice vlan is -
qos dscp ef
qos dscp ef is configured on the voice vlan on both the HP 3500 (edge switch) and the HP 5400 (core switch)
qos has not been applied to the trunk interface between both the HP 3500 (edge switch) and the HP 5400 (core switch)
Can someone advise if the qos configuration is correct
OR do we require further qos configuration on the voice vlan
OR do we need to apply the qos configuration on the trunk interface between both the HP 3500 (edge switch) and the HP 5400 (core switch)
OR do we need to apply diffserv to the voice vlan
OR do we need to apply any further qos configuration on both the HP 3500 (edge switch) and the HP 5400 (core switch)

Re: QOS on HP3500 switches
There's a "voice" command in VLAN context which is recommended for use on all voice VLANs. It sets the 802.1p priority to 6, sets dscp to ef, and enables LLDP-MED.

Re: QOS on HP3500 switches
I have applied the voice command in the vlan context.
I have then also applied the following qos configuration to the edge switches;
ProCurve Switch (config)#qos type-of-service diff-services
ProCurve Switch (config)#qos protocol ARP priority 4
ProCurve Switch (config)#qos dscp-map ef priority 7
and applied to the voice vlan - ProCurve Switch (vlan-voice)# qos dscp ef
Do I need to apply the following to the edge switches
ProCurve Switch (config)# lldp run
Do I also need to apply the above configuration to the core switches OR does the qos configuration only need to be applied to the edge switches.
