(SOLVE)Procurve 6600-48G Won't accept my mini-gbic J4859C.

Hi, we purchase the switch HP Procurve 6600-48g(J9452A), it has 4 SPF which the manual say that accept mini-gbic 1GB:

HP ProCurve Gigabit-LH-LC Mini-GBIC (J4860C)
HP ProCurve Gigabit-SX-LC Mini-GBIC (J4858C)
HP ProCurve Gigabit-LX-LC Mini-GBIC (J4859C)
HP ProCurve 100-FX SFP-LC Transceiver (J9054B)
HP ProCurve 100-BX-D SFP-LC Transceiver (J9099B)
HP ProCurve 100-BX-U SFP-LC Transceiver (J9100B)
HP ProCurve 1000-BX-D SFP-LC Mini-GBIC (J9142B)
HP ProCurve 1000-BX-U SFP-LC Mini-GBIC (J9143B)

Based in the doc: http://www.hp.com/rnd/pdfs/QRG_4AA1-2960ENW.pdf

I purchase this switch, our network has 4 fiber links OM2 fiber 1-10GB capable, we want to use this model as the main one.

We have a old 2650 but this one is not a 1GB switch, we want to have all our network in 1GB this was the reason we purchase the 6600.

Now, I test the mini-gbic J4859C which is the same model we use in the old 2650 and is working at 1GB over the fiber in the other end we have a HP Procurve 2530-24 which is a 1GB compatible in all ports.

I try with different mini-gbic adapters and I couldn't make it work with my test fiber, I test 4 ports and latter I test the same cable with other 2530 I have and they work.

Does this model is compatible with my trasceiver or the doc is wrong or I'm doing some thing wrong?

Thanks for your time.

(SOLVE)Re: Procurve 6600-48G Won't accept my mini-gbic J4859C.

I will anser my own post, looks like I found my issue, reading the 'Installation and Getting Started Guide' 2-26.

'If you insert a transceiver that is functional but not supported (such as an SFP
transceiver in an SFP+ slot or an SFP+ transceiver in an SFP slot), the Link
LED of the affected port displays an orange fast flash. Event log messages are
generated. For example, this error condition occurs when an inserted transceiver
is not supported by the switch software, is the wrong revision, or is the
wrong transceiver type.'

Looks like my problem is that the switch 6600 has only SPF+ slots and my transceiver (J4859C) which is SPF.

My transceiver works but the manual answer my problem.

Well lest see what I can do to fix this.
