BACKUP RAID 5 CONFIGURATON

Description: File and Print Server
SERVER MAKE: HP
MODEL: PROLIANT 380 DL
OS: MS WINDOWS SERVER 2003
CONFIG: RAID 5
HD: TOTAL 6 SCSI each 72.8 GB
Partition: C: Drive 9 GB (OS)
D: 330 GB DATA

HOW CAN I BACKUP THE OS AND RAID CONFIGURATION ONTO AN EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE?

you cannot easily backup the raid "configuration".

When you have used "smartstart" cd to config the system, this has an option to save the configuration.
If you did not use smartstart I don't know if you can do it afterwards.
Possibly when you go into ACU at POST using F8 you may be able to save the ACU config, but i've never used that.

the raid data will be no problem.

using standard windows backup :
start -> programs -> accessories -> system tools -> backup
Make sure all drives are selected
especially make sure "system state" is selected (system config + SAM).
backup to disk to create a ".bkf" file

HP delivers dataprotector software with their systems.
If you've installed that you may also use that.
