NC371i driver for WinPE

I have been unable to get a driver to work within the WinPE client for the NC371i present in the 585 G2 and the 385 G2 models. HP claims that the RIS drivers provided for download here: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/25508.html?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

will work with both the NC371i and the NC373i (which can be found in the 380 G5 server). They're right, it will work for the NC373i, but not the NC371i!

This is a big problem for me since all of our servers are imaged by PXE booting and then loading the WinPE client to connect to our deployment server via the network.

Anyone else having trouble with the NC371i drivers not working within WinPE? I'm using the WinPE (boot.wim) file located on the Vista DVD.

any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance....blockhead

Hi,
you need special RIS drivers for this network card. Go to http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netxtremeii.php and download drivers under "Windows Remote Installation Service (RIS) Drivers" for Windows 2003. Should work.

Re: NC371i driver for WinPE

Apparently the whole thread is no longer online, which is unfortunate.
If you have been followng this thread from the beginning you would know that the RIS drivers for VISTA boot.wim do not work. The driver works fine within a WinPE 2005 client, but not the VISTA WinPE client.

Hi,

Did you end up resolving this as I have the issues?

Re: NC371i driver for WinPE

The only way I could get around it was to use the WinPE 2005 client. The vista WinPe client at the time did not have supported drivers for the 371i....there may be drivers available now.

Re: NC371i driver for WinPE

I was able to load the NIC online using drvload bxnd.inf and drvload bxvbd.inf with drivers from Win2008 beta PSP. http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/software/microsoft/OS/Windowslonghorn_overview.html

I havent been able to get those drivers loaded into ISO image or \ISO\*.* folder on my winpe 2.0 source. If someone can help with simple steps - that would help.
