Re: 12 gb memory DL360 G4
Intel Xeon processors increase system performance and can handle a significantly greater workload because of higher processor frequencies, increased cache, faster system bus, Hyper-Threading, and EM64T technology. Up to 12GB memory capacity helps eliminate a common system bottleneck. ProLiant engineers have balanced the processor resources with high performance PC2-3200 DDR2 SDRAM which can be configured for 2:1 interleaving, PCI-X technology and 15,000 rpm drives, bringing more performance per U for web hosting, infrastructure, clustering and compute node environments.

Re: 12 gb memory DL360 G4
The specs that you were looking for was a
DL360 G4p which comes with standard 6 memory slots which can accomodate a max of 12GB memory.
But if it for a DL360 G4 then it comes with a standard 4 memory slots which can accomodate a max of 8GB memory.
Please check the comparison chart for the DL360 G4p and DL360 G4 servers on the same weblink:

Hope this answers!!!!!

Re: 12 gb memory DL360 G4
Dual rank memory requires that each DIMM have access to two chip-select lines from the chipset. Based on that fact, the Intel chipset can only support dual-ranked DIMMs in 4 sockets on any server. Consequently ... The DL380 G4 and DL360 G4p has 6 DIMM sockets, and dual-ranked memory will only work in the first two (of 3) interleaved banks. And if those banks are full of dual-ranked memory, the last bank is inoperative.
You're using:
6 * Assembly 345114-051 -> Spare 378021-001 -> DIMM, PC2-3200 registered DDR2 SDRAM 2 GB (dual rank)
In order to have 12 GB you have to use:
6 * Assembly 345114-061 -> Spare 359243-001 -> DIMM, PC2-3200 registered DDR2 SDRAM 2 GB (single rank)
If the server has less than 30 days old, maybe you can call your re-seller or HP Rep. to get this memory exchanged.

Re: 12 gb memory DL360 G4
When configuring the memory sub-system to run in Online Spare mode, only single rank DIMMs can be installed in the system.
Please Note: Online Spare Mode will not work with dual rank DIMMs installed in the system.
On this DL360 G4p server, the slots 5 and 6 are designed to operate for single rank memory modules only. So even though you do not use the Online Spare mode, you have to install the single-rank modules to get the maximum memory support for the server.
So you may have to install the assembly number 345114-061 for the single rank modules suggested by Chongkan.
Hope this answers!!!!!

Re: 12 gb memory DL360 G4
The server memory can be expanded by installing PC2-3200 DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs. The system supports up to six ECC Registered DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs.
This box supports two types of memory configs
Standard memory configuration for maximum performance with up to 12 GB of active memory (six 2-GB memory modules)
Online spare memory configuration for maximum availability with up to 6 GB of active memory while simultaneously supporting up to 6 GB of online spare memory.
