Hello,
We have DL 585 G2 with 64 GB of ram, recently we added another 64 GB, to get 128 GB, but by some reason the server still shows 64 GB configured.
We tried to find any way to reconfigure the server to support 128 GB, but no success. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you
Serguei

Do you see the 128GB during POST?

Re: 128 GB on DL585 G2
Unfortunately it is not detected during POST. I swapped exisiting 64GB memory with the new 64 GB just to make sure that the memory is good and it detected again only 64 GB. It is like there is a dip switch or a configuration item in Setup which needs to be enabled, but I cannot find anything.
Thank you for your replies

Re: 128 GB on DL585 G2
Yes, they are 4 GB modules and they are identical to the first 64 GB modules. BTW, the link you sent, does not work by some reason.
Thank you

It worked for me when I pasted it into the address bar or my firefox URL Link addon.
It would be better if the post was edited to add the missing "http://":

Re: 128 GB on DL585 G2
Thank you for updated link..
Example #3: Maximum Memory Configuration is exactly what I have and it still does not work. Are you aware of any dip switch controlling the maximum amount of memory which can be installed on this system?

SolutionDo you have 4 processors installed?
From the memory section of the quickspecs for the server
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12575_div/12575_div.HTML
DIMM banks are active only when the corresponding processor socket is populated.

Re: 128 GB on DL585 G2
Hi,
Following are the memory populating guidelines in this server:
- DIMM banks are active only when the corresponding processor socket is populated.
- DIMMs must be installed in pairs.
- DIMM installed on the same memory bank must have the same part number.
- DIMMs installed in different banks can be of different sizes.
- DIMMs must be installed in decreasing capacity with the largest DIMMs installed in the banks furthest away from each processor.
NOTE: If all four banks on a memory node are populated, the maximum memory clock speed will be 533 MHz. If two or fewer banks on a memory node are populated, the maximum memory clock speed will be 667 MHz.
If the Issue not isolated, let us know:
> how many processors installed in the server.
> What is the part number of the DIMM
Thank you.
