Re: 136GB HDD on P440ar

Hello,

The HP Smart Array P440ar Controller is supported on specific HP ProLiant Gen9 rack and tower servers.

This controller can work with 1 HDD installed on the server, however, the Raid level will be Raid 0.
HP does not recommend our customers to use Raid 0, as there is no data redundacy.

RAID Support on the P440ar are :
RAID 6, 60 (Advanced Data Guarding)
RAID 5, 50 (Distributed Data Guarding)
RAID 1, 10 (Drive Mirroring)
RAID 1 ADM
10 ADM (Advanced Data Mirroring)
RAID 0 (Striping)

The SA-P440ar Controller supports up to 26 physical drives with HP 12G SAS Expander card.

Additionally, the HDD Spare Part No : 507283-001 is not supported on Gen9 Server.
You should user HDD which specifies the SmartDrive Carrier (SC). Therefore, it is recommended to purchase the HDDs based on the Server model and quickspec.

Please let me know if you have any further questions on this.

Re: 146GB HDD on P440ar

You can use the quickspecs of the server to check for hdd compatibility.

The dl380 gen9 for instance:

http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=c04346247

Since 146gb 10k rpm sas disks are no longer being supplied for new platforms, the next best thing you could use for the p440ar on a gen9 platform would be

HP 300GB 6G SAS 10K rpm SFF (2.5-inch) SC Enterprise 3yr Warranty Hard Drive
652564-B21

Of course you can have a look at the quickspecs of the respective platform you wanna use the p440ar in and choose the hard disks that would suit your needs best.
