1610 - Temperature violation detected waiting 5 minutes for system to cool

One of our client systems is having the following issue, Automatic Operating Ssystem Shutdown Initiated Due to System Overheating (Zone 4, Location I/O Board, Temperature 46C). This has been logged twice on this system. This server is totally down but powered ON status. When we check the status in ILO remote control the following messages is displayed and the system hangs there. "1610 - Temperature violation detected waiting 5 minutes for system to cool".

Please help me to identify what is exactly causing this problem.

Thanks in Advance.

Temperature too high?
Check your room conditions first.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: 1610 - Temperature violation detected waiting 5 minutes for system to cool

There could be several reasons:

temp too high
sensor problem
software problem while reading the sensor

I don't know what server and OS you have ;-(

Since you are "@hp.com" you should check cybrary or saw.

Hope this helps!

Re: 1610 - Temperature violation detected waiting 5 minutes for system to cool

Are you running the server with any panels removed? They are designed to operate with all panels attached so that the air flow/cooling works effectively. With a panel removed the thresholds can be exceeded.

If you have the option in the hardware setup, ensure that the fans run at full speed.

Leave the server off to cool down fully, start it up and then as soon as possible check the log again as gathered by the Insight agents. Look for faults like fan errors etc, anything that hints at the problem.

Check that you have latest BIOS revision and update if you are able to.

Just some ideas.

Re: 1610 - Temperature violation detected waiting 5 minutes for system to cool

Thanks everyone. We are managing these servers remotely. We do not have a chance to visit the server room. We couldnt check the server room temperature since it was holiday for the local site contacts during that days. Next day another server in the same server room also went down due to temperature problem. This time we understand that something wrong with the room temperature and we asked the site contacts to check the server room temperature immediately and they have identified that the AC in the server room was malfuntioning. later they have repaired it. Now all servers are up and running with out any issues.

Thanks once again for everyone participated in this discussion.
