1611-I/O Fan Failure Detected on ML370G1

Hi,

I have a Proliant ML370 G1 (P3 866 x 2) giving the error "1611-I/O Fan Failure Detected". The single fan is working, so the error appears faulty. Have reseated the connector without improvement.

Is there any way to disable this warning or any other ideas please? It causes an automated shutdown.

Thank you

Carel

Did you try a different fan... Maybe it's unable to sense that the fan is turning.

Not yet. Moved the drives into a less crucial sister server in the meantime.

Hello,
you should replace the fan asap. Meanwhile you could try to deactivate the automatical shutdown from Web-Based Management interface (or even from BIOS).
The server is protected to te heat and when the cooling system doesn's insure that (maybe a faulty sensor), it shutdown automatically.

There's actually two fans in this server. The fan you're talking about is most likely the cpu fan. The I/O fan is the one blowing across the pci slots.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

On this server there is also no option to disable thermal shutdown.

I'm sorry, this server has the possiblity to disable shutdown for thermal degraded action. You can see this in the attached picture.
