1720 Imminent Failure Message

I am using a Prosignia 162 Laptop, with Windows 98. I have started to get the above Imminent Failure message when I boot up. When I press F1, the computer boots up. I have read a lot of the posts and have checked out some of the sites for updating the Firmware, etc. but it seems I have to know which model hard drive I have and I cannot seem to find the answer to that question. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me what to do about this problem or how to find which hard drive I have ie: seagate, western ???

Re: 1720 Imminent Failure Message

this error code means that hard drive report SMART error warning you about possible drive failure in the future. SMART is disk's built-in self-monitoring system. It is recommended to backup all data and replace disk
