1724 - Drive Array - Physical drive position change(s) detected
Has anyone seen this message before ?
Needless to say no one has repositioned the disks in the server ...
It's happening regularly on an NT4 server (10 times a month).
any help of guidance would be appreciated.

Re: 1724 - Drive Array - Physical drive position change(s) detected
Hi Paul,
Are you sure there wasn't any maintenance or hardware changes made to the system dating back to the first instance of this (Check the IML entries using the IML viewer). This kind of message can occur when the cable to the disks is accidently placed on different port of the raid controller. The controller recognises the changes and allows the system to continue. (It will normally save the changes permanently if you press F1 when prompted at POST). This is a feature of the Smart controllers so that you can keep your disk configuration and move it to a different port if necessary due to port failures. It's worth checking back.
Brian

Re: 1724 - Drive Array - Physical drive position change(s) detected
Thanks Brian, I'll check that.
The entries in the IML date back to a disk channel upgrade ... My guess is we had an external array on the back to perform the upgrade ... I'll check.
Thanks again . I will reply again and award points when I've checked.

Re: 1724 - Drive Array - Physical drive position change(s) detected
Hello,
I have seen this message when the firmware of the array controller is old. Please look into updating the firmware of the Smart Array controller if that has not been done.
