1785-Drive Array is not configured. No drive detected.

When power up the ML370G3, a message displayed -" 1785-Drive array is not configured. No drive detected."

Use Smart Star CD to boot , enter to Array Configuration Ultility (ACU) , no physical drive are detected .

SCSI cable are plugged properly between SCSI backplane and Array controller .

I noticed that there is no LED indicators for all hard drive when power up .Is it normal ?
The power cable is plugged properly .

Server : ML370G3 , smart array 642 , 5 X 36.4 Gb hard drive

Re: 1785-Drive Array is not configured. No drive detected.

Hi Joseph , thank you for you information and provided link .

However , I don't use the Compay System Configuration Utility to configure the Smart array controller. The Smart Array used is Smart Array 642 (Card ) instaed of integrated model.

I am using the Smart Start CD 6.40 only .

Please comments.

Re: 1785-Drive Array is not configured. No drive detected.

Hello Desmond,
When you boot your server you need to Hit F9 and you have to specify as to which controller you intend to boot from. Basically you need to set the BOOT CONTROLLER order to first to which the hdds are connected and you should have no problems.

I have set the Smart Array 642 as Boot Controller . The latest firmware is updated completely .What do you think ?

Re: 1785-Drive Array is not configured. No drive detected.

Hello Desmond,
Do you have any other controller other then the SA642?? Which Smart Start CD are you using?? When you run ACU then the HDD lights should come on. If not then there is the possibility of bad back plane board. Also try reseating the HDDs and cable. Please let me know as to how you make out.

Re: 1785-Drive Array is not configured. No drive detected.

I called to local HP Support . They take out all HDD and insert to HDD cage again . After that , All HDD is working fine now.

Thank you for good support from HP .
