17xx-controller is in lock up state

Hi, I just updated the firmware on a dl380 G2 and after it was finished my scsi 5i array controller will give this message after trying to initialize "17xx-controller in lock up state" -controller will be disabled until this is resolved. I've tried re-running the firware cd (v7.3) but it only recognizes the bios now and not the scsi array controller. Also, I've tried to clear the nvram in the bios. Any ideas? thanks!

we have seen this error before and after trying all we could, we had to replace the card, luckly the server was under warranty.
I hope you have better luck.

Try reseating the 5i, itâ s located under the pci riser cage. Also disconnect the scsi cable going from the 5i (sys board) to the scsi backplane to isolate the backplane from error.
There’s your problem!!! This thing is set to EVIL!

Re: 17xx-controller is in lock up state

I had this problem this week on two different servers, one a DL380 and the other an ML370, both with 5i controller boards. On one of the servers reseating the 5i card worked, on the other I needed to replace the board.
Try reseating the 5i board, if that doesn't work then replace the 5i card.
