220-Runtime Cache Accelerator Failure

Hi,

I have a Proliant DL760 G2 and I am getting the following error:

POST Error: 220-Runtime Cache Accelerator Failure -----ACTION---- Contact Service

I have seen that it is the same error that Sejo is getting:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1067292&admit=-682735245+1160562261217+28353475

I have tried with F9 during bootup and cleaning the NVRAM but the error continues, then I would like to try replacing the cache module but I have looked for it in the manuals and I haven't found where it is placed.

Do someone know where it is placed or any other solution?

I have read something about replace the mid-plane but i would like to know more about how it could solve the problem.

Regards.

Re: 220-Runtime Cache Accelerator Failure

Hi Medfer,

1. Access RBSU F9 goto Advanced Options: Select Set Cache Accelerator Corrected and set all of them as Corrected.

2. Try reseating the Processor Board. Page 64 in the Service and Maintenance guide. cache is integrated to the Processor Board.

3. Try resating the System MidPlane. Page 39 in the Service and Maintenance guide.

If reseating does not help, than try replacing the Processor board if issue still exists replace the system midplane.

Download the Service and Maintenance guide from the following link:

Re: 220-Runtime Cache Accelerator Failure

Hi Rajashekar,

Thank you for answering so soon.

I have read that manual several times and I continue without find where is the "Cache Accelerator", in the manual it explains how to replace the server's parts but nothing of the Cache Accelerator.

I have found another document that specifies that:

Cache Accelerator --> 2-MB Cache coherency accelerator embedded on host board

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11568_ca/11568_ca.HTML

On the other hand in the next post Michael said that the Cache Accelerator chip is embedded on the processor baseboard (spare number 278466-001)

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=808351&admit=-682735245+1160558474250+28353475

So when you say:

If reseating does not help, than try replacing the Processor board if issue still exists replace the system midplane.

Are you talking about the Processor Board (P/N: 314379-001) or about the Processor baseboard (P/N: 278466-001)? Page 15 in the Service and Maintenance guide.

To end I continue whitout know how to replace the mid-plane could help me to solve the Cache Accelerator's problem.

Kind Regards,

Medfer.

Re: 220-Runtime Cache Accelerator Failure

Hi Medfer,

The Cache chips are embedded in the board. Spare #278466-001 (Processor and memory module w/o processors).

Try reseating if not replacing it. If issue still exists, than the problem may be caused due to communication problem with the rest of the system so replace is the system mid-plane with Spares #316747-001.

Raj.
