2nd 642 Controller

Hi all,
I have an ML350G4p with a 642 array controller in it. It is running 2 X 72Gb disks for the O/S(Mirrored), and 4 X 145Gb disks in RAID 5 for Data. (Windows 2003 SBS Server)

My CLient has a new app they are upgrading to, which runs an SQL server. It has been STRONGLY suggested to me that I run a seperate physical disk for the SQL data compared to the SQL logs, both for performance and redundancy.

My 6 bay cage is full (See above), so I am planning on putting in the 2 Bay optional cage.

Here's the question (finally) - I believe you can only run the one 6 disk cage with a 642 controller. Am I heading down the right path then by ordering and setting up a second 642 controller, the optional internal 2 bay cage, and a couple of disks mirrored 0+1 (for speed and redundancy) ??

Your thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Scott

Yes, SA642 support 6 internal HDD max. Possible solution is second SA641 (one internal connector) or SA642.
