2x1 Drive Cage
From what I'm reading you can't set up the 2nd 2x1 drive cage as a separate array on a dual controller (I'm using a 4200) or the red lights will constantly be on. Is there any way I can set this up, the 2x1 being one array for the OS and the 4x1 being another array for data without the red lights on the 2x1 drives being on. This is the configuration I have now and it seems to be working fine except for the red lights. Also, if the red lights are on will Insight Manager see them as failed?

Re: 2x1 Drive Cage
I just spoke with Compaq regarding this and they said the same thing. Both cages cannot be run duplex (each cage with its own channel). You can however have two volumes operating off the same channel. You'd still have physical separation of volumes just all data passed through a single channel. You might want to replace the 4200 with a 431 (single channel controller) unless you need the extra cache on the 4200.
