Hi all,
I am plan buy the latest DL380p G8 Server.
It will with a Xeon E2620 CPU, and I checked Intel ARK web site, it is a 3 channel.
Since budget problems, I just give this server total 8G RAM, (4G x2)
Model is this one

So .... I am wonder, do this just plug in two 4G RAM Module on it, it will work or I need buy one more 4G ram?
Thank and hope can look forward the answer as soon as possible!!

SolutionThe processor number you have I believe is in error, I believe you mean the E5-2620 processor, which is actually a quad (4) channel processor.
Your best performance, in a E5-2620 processor server, will be achieved by having four identical 1333MHz (10600) RAM modules per processor installed. (4 in a single processor system, 8 in a dual processor system)
The memory module you referenced, 647893-B21, looks to be the correct module to use. In a single processor system, if you already have 2x4GB, adding quantity 2 of 647893-B21 will give you optimal performance.
FYI, much of this is explained in the quickspecs:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/14212_div/14212_div.HTML#Memory
And HP also makes an interactive memory configurator available that can help you determine optimal configurations:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/options/tool/hp_memtool.html
Hope this helps, let me know if it does!
