3 new 146 Gb drives not reconized

Hello;

I've recently buy 3 new 418367-B21 HP 146GB 3G SAS 10K SFF Dual Port Hard Drive to add it on a DLS 380 G5 server.

This server have HP Smart Array P400/512 MB BBWC Controller

Drives are installed in the server like this :

BAY 1
36GB 3G SAS 15K SP
Model = DG036A8B53
--
BAY 2
36GB 3G SAS 15K SP
Model = DG036A8B53
--
BAY 3
146GB 3G SAS 10K SP
Model = DG146ABAB4
--
BAY 4
146GB 3G SAS 10K SP
Model = DG146ABAB4
--
BAY 5
146GB 3G SAS 10K SP
Model = DG146ABAB4
--
BAY 6
146GB 3G SAS 10K DP => 1st NEW DRIVE
Model = DG146ABB976
--
BAY 7
146GB 3G SAS 10K DP => 2ndNEW DRIVE
Model = DG146ABB976
--
BAY 8
146GB 3G SAS 10K DP => 3rd NEW DRIVE
Model = DG146ABB976

Regarding DL380 quick speck my configuration is supported
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12477_na/12477_na.html#Storage.htm

After adding the 3 drivers they comme autoamticaly to failed (the amber LED on the front of each new disk illuminates) and the disk are not visible on Array configuration Utility.

I have updated P400 firmware to the latest.

Does anyone have an idea ?

We have same problem on DL585 G4.
And only after we unplug all power cable (ilO turn off), and turn on server again, HDDs was reconized.

check the hdd connectors, try to insert just one, and if possible, remove all drives and insert a new one in first bay.

Use ADU and run some diagnoses on those drives. Backplane? P400 SA controller failed?

Hi,

I found the following hp support document but according to it the hdd model DG146ABB976 should not be affected.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=1121516&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121516&objectID=c01186030

Have you tried clearing the NVRAM on the server?
