32-Bit SCSI Controller driver upgrade failed

Ran remote deployment utility with Support Paq bp000062 all seemed to work OK except for Compaq 32-Bit SCSI controller driver for Windows NT4.0 version 4.4.14.0.
After upgrading this component the server would hang at the blue start up screen. This was not a blue screen of Death. Is this a known issue and is there a fix?

Please update your system BIOS and System Config Utility. for further assistance call 1-800-ok-compaq.
