4 Ethernet ports running at 100Mb

When server is not turn on... is it normal 4 ethernet port running at only 100Mb ?

If the server is indeed not turned-on, short of there being WOL support, I would not expect Ethernet ports to be running at any speed.

What is reporting this speed when the server is not turned-on?

If Wake-on-LAN is enabled (as it is by default on HP Proliant servers), the network interface(s) will stay powered up when the server is shut down.

The network interface needs more power in 1Gb mode than in 10/100Mb modes.

The power supplies usually produce a very limited amount of "stand-by" power, and the current Green IT trends encourage manufacturers to find ways to minimize energy consumption, so the new network interfaces will switch down to 10/100Mb mode when the server is off and waiting for WoL signal.

I think I saw this mentioned somewhere when examining the documentation of a new Proliant server model a while ago.

My Switch reporting connection at 100MB when server is down and 1GB when my server running.

Dell servers do the same thing.

When the server is "off", the NIC's will sit at 100Mb on the switch.
