4 x Intel Dialogic D/120JCT-LS voice cards in DL760G2

Hallo,
Are there any DL760G2 users that have Intel Dialogic D/120JCT-LS voice adapters operational ?
We are running into problem when we attempt to connect the 5th and 6th port on each card to the PABX/ACD. When the DL760G2 is started with the port 1 to 5 connected it does not pass the POST. It restarts after the "initializing hotplug controller for os" process starts. It keeps on rebooting until the 5th port is disconnected.

So is start O.K. with 1 to 4 port connected.
It seems that too much power is drawn by the cards which causes the post/server to fail.

The configuration is as follows:
HP Proliant DL760G2
4 x 2GB Xeon CPU/ 2048 MB RAM
ROM Bios : P44 dd 03/05/2004
PCI Slot 1 Intel Dialogic D/320JCTU
PCI Slot 2 Intel Dialogic DL300916 (Digital Voice)
PCI Slot 3 Intel Dialogic DL300916 (Digital Voice)
PCI Slot 4 Intel Dialogic D/120JCT-LS-Universal (Analogue Voice) 6 port
PCI Slot 5 Intel Dialogic D/120JCT-LS-Universal (Analogue Voice) 6 port
PCI Slot 6 Intel Dialogic D/120JCT-LS-Universal (Analogue Voice) 6 port
PCI Slot 7 Intel Dialogic D/120JCT-LS-Universal (Analogue Voice) 6 port
PCI Slot 8 HP SmartArray 6404/256 SCSI adapter
PCI Slot 9 Conceptronic C480i1 USB adapter
PCI Slot 10 HP NC7170 Dual port PCI-X 1000-T Gigabit Ethernet-adapter
PCI Slot 11 HP NC3134 64-bit/66-Mhz Dual 10/100TX Ethernet-adapter

Re: 4 x Intel Dialogic D/120JCT-LS voice cards in DL760G2

Hello Willie,

I do not think there will be a simple answer due to the amount of devices in the PCI slots however it might be worth swapping SLOT1 and SLOT8 devices as the combined D/120JCT-LS and 6404 may present too big a load on PCI BUS4. This might also allow all disks to spin up and be stable before the system scans the other PCI buses since the 6404 would then be on PCI bus 1 which should be earlier in the PCI bus scan at POST.

Please see attached PCI bus diagram which shows the PCI buses and their associated slots.

The recommended input voltage for the DL760G2 is 220V not 110V however it is noted that it is possible to exceed the single power supply capabilities with a 220V input (See below). You probably have two power supplies so this should not apply.

Note: Power Requirements
Most system configurations require 220 volt power sources. Use 200-240VAC power cords to power the server. Use of 110 volt power sources is not recommended. A few server configurations may exceed the capability of a single power supply with 220 Volt power source. Refer to the DL760 G2 Users Guide (201264-001) chapter 2 for guidance.

I hope this helps.

Hallo Brian,
Thank you for your feedback. We've re-arranged the PCI devices as you suggested, but the problem still persists.
This server does have 2 x 220V power supplies as you correctly assumed.

We've passed buck to both Intel and HP to come up with a resolution (if any).
When we do get a solution I'll inform you.

Regards.
